One Fast Woo-woooo

For those who have never seen him, I introduce you to our beloved Governor Quinn......

Sexy, huh?

This guy is dead-set on building a high speed wooo-wooooooo across the cornfields of Illinois, from Chicago to St. Louis.

Keep in mind our wonderful state of Illinois has no money.

broke.

empty pockets.

near bankruptcy.

and he wants to build a train.

not just any train.... read.....

Our high-speed-rail-loving governor requested the study. Keep in mind that we're talking about really fast trains — 220 miles per hour, not the 110 mph project Gov. Pat Quinn is urging Congress to fund. At 220 mph, you could get to St. Louis in a little more than two hours, less than half the current five-plus. Urbana-Champaign would be just 45 minutes away.

freakin' fast train!  I'd love to ride it.  Of course, I really, really hope it's never built until we've saved up all the money to construct it.

It's a great project, just not one that we need to go further into debt for.

It's a luxury.  A nicety.  A want.

Not a priority right now, or any where close to the immediate future.

I love the title of the editorial column that the above quote comes from:
Quinn really has gone off the high-speed rails this time

Read the full thing here:

High-speed rail, while it would be a cool deal, is not what the Land of Lincoln needs right now.

We gotta get our financial trainwreck back on the tracks first.

Out for now.....
