we don't know much about Chickens and Hens. we think they are some type of cactus. or related to a cactus. maybe. heck, we don't even know why they are called Chickens & Hens, or what their real scientific name is.
Corrie and I estimate at least 15 years, but in reality, it's likely much longer. Grandma Marie has been gone for quite some time now, so these plants have pretty much been taking care of themselves for awhile. as we look at the tire, it's easy to visualize Marie walking around it.... tending to the Chickens and Hens.... many years ago.
recently, Corr's mom got the OK from Grandpa Fisher to bring us some of the plants to have here at our place. they've not been placed in a Goodyear, or Firestone, or Michelin.... but Corrie has done a great job getting them situated in great homes here, 60 miles away from "the tire".
we hear these are pretty hearty little plants. as such, we hope to be able to keep them alive for years and years to come. as we look at them, they'll always serve as 1 small great memory of Grandpa and Grandma.
