Delavan

we are spending the day up in Delavan, Corrie's hometown.  Her folks invited us up for lunch, then we went over to visit Corrie's grandfather.  at 96 years old, he is still living independently and doing well.  slowing down, but doing well.  Lord willing, if i am given 96 years on this Earth, I sure hope i am in good shape like Grandpa Fisher.

rather than riding in the van with the fam back to the inlaws, I decided to walk.  this town has many memories for Corrie, but a few good ones for me too.  i was trying to remember the first time i came up to delavan -- Corrie tells me it would have been in late 1993, shortly before winter break of our freshman year at EIU.  we dropped by on our way to Peoria for a Riverman hockey game.

since then, there have been lots of fun times in delavan.  holidays.  day-trips.  weenie roasts.

oh yeah, and a little event back in May 1997.

this is the church we got married in.  it was a new facility then;  in fact, we were told that ours was the first wedding ceremony performed in this building.  lots of great memories.  Rich and Kevin performing the service.  Kaatje and Pat singing.  all our friends and family (including 7 of 8 grandparents) attending.

other fun times.... 2 great antique/junk shops we love to visit.....

and a couple other cool pix I took on my walk home.....

just like my hometown of Kansas, Delavan has a great history and some great people.

i enjoy visits here.

out for now.....
