fishing

took Emily fishing tonight at Dreamland Lake down in Fairview.  since our first fishing "expedition" several weeks back up at Weldon Springs, she has been pestering me about getting another time to fish booked on the calendar.

so, we went tonight.

and, we were successful.

lots of nibbles.  lots!  4 on the line, with Emmy able to get 2 of the 4 to shore.  (the other 2 were stealth.... and escaped the line.)

couldn't find any worms when we were digging holes for the new plants on Saturday.  so I mixed up a dough ball concoction i found online.  felt kinda witchy.... although there was no toad wart or unicorn horn in the recipe.

had a blast spending time together.  and even though her 2 fish were little bluegills (or sunfish, or crappie ?), she was on top of the world.  they might as well have been feisty marlins that she battled for hours to reel in.

know what really made me upset about the outing though?  all the trash other fisherpeople had left laying around.  on the shore.  in the water.  styrofoam cups that once held worms.  cardboard packaging that once held jigs, or rigs, or fancy fisherman ba-dingle-bigs.

what a mess!  lazy, inconsiderate people.  thinking only of themselves.  nothing but a "oh well, someone else will clean it up" mentality.

frustrates the bajeebers out of me.  we picked up a few pieces of the crap and got them to a trash can, but there was plenty we didn't (or couldn't) get.

really sad to see others take so little pride in our park.

COME ON PEOPLE!!

oh, and no, I did not leave my Circle K 44 ouncer styrofoam cup floating with the fishies.

out for now.....
