Collecting

what do you collect?

thru the years, i have been a collector of many different things.  some of these collections have stuck with me... all the way to here.... my 38th year in life.  others have been abandoned at one point or another for one reason or another.

here's ones that i can remember (if it has an * by it, i still consider it to be an active collection of mine):

- postcards (would always look for these on vacation.  and remember when they had them in hotel rooms?  i would snatch those up!)

- rubber bouncy balls (primarily purchased for either 10 or 25 cents each at the Paris K-Mart)

- stamps (teamed up with my neighbor and great friend Allison L. on this one)

- license plates * (i am actively working to have 1 from each of the 50 states)

- travel literature (as a kid, i use to order so much of this in from the various states' tourism offices that all my mail would not fit in our Box 283)

- road maps * (related to the item above, i still love maps.  love to plan routes via maps over GPS or internet any day)

- baseball cards (what boy didn't collect them?  eventually sold them all to a guy named Jason A. when i was a freshman in high school)

- road/street signs * (when i find them on sale and if they are unique, i will pick them up;  someday, they'll line the walls of my "someday" man cave)

- stickers (what kid didn't at one point have a sticker book?)

- great photos * (shots i take with my own camera, keeping them in digital .jpg format; i still need to go back and scan in some of my old photos taken on the old camera i had as a kid)

- fish (i use to have 3 aquariums, including one with a couple bluegill caught by Grandpa Johnny in his pond)

- coins (was really in to this back when i worked at KSB during high school and college)

- books * (i have always loved books;  not any book... just ones that i have an interest in reading;  i will never get thru them all)

- cassingles (remember these?  cassette tapes containing only 2 songs.... a top 40 hit on side A and a flip-side song on the other)

- political signs * (as i wrote about in an earlier blog post, i raid the roadsides and polling place at 7:01 PM to pick up ones i like, not all;  they line the walls of our garage)

-buttons (not the kind that keeps your shirt fastened and your pants up;  the kind that has a stick pin and advertises something;  some of my close friends will even recall that i had my own Badg-a-Minit button maker at one point)

- frisbees * (thanks to my good friend Rich C., my love of frisbeeing still exists, although my arm isn't what it once was)

- coffee mugs * (only very unique ones, especially "odd" advertising ones or agriculture related)

- hot wheels * (again, like baseball cards, what boy didn't collect them at some point?)

- keychains * (this is my big one.  my favorite collection, and the one i will keep till the day my time on this earth is complete;  i have roughly 3,000 with the collection growing by a few each week, depending on what i come across)

no Longenberger.
no Scentsy.
no dolls, bears, bells, or figurines.

Out for now.....
