Character and Reputation

Character.  Reputation.

2 words. 19 Letters.

Huge importance.

Too many take them too lightly.

Someone forwarded me this quote regarding character and reputation.  Wanted to share it with you.....

“If you want to be thought of as a solid, reliable pillar of your community when you’re fifty, you can’t be an irresponsible, corner-cutting exploiter at twenty-five. . . . The time to worry about your reputation is before you have one. You determine your reputation by deciding who and what you are and by keeping that lofty vision of yourself in mind, even when you’re having a rip-roaring good time.”
William Raspberry

wow- how true.

what about you?
are you always working to strengthen your character and to build your reputation into something you'll be proud to see in your obituary?

In light of the quote above, on this Friday, I wanted to also pass along a few other character/reputation quotes to get you (and me) thinking.

“A reputation once broken may possibly be repaired, but the world will always keep their eyes on the spot where the crack was.”
Joseph Hall

"Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company."
George Washington

“Material possessions, winning scores, and great reputations are meaningless in the eyes of the Lord, because He knows what we really are and that is all that matters.”
John Wooden

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."
Abraham Lincoln

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
John Wooden

and this one, very Biblical.....

Great words of insight to take with you this afternoon, this weekend, and into the new autumn season that starts Sunday.

out for now....
