several days ago here on MattChat, I did an entry on "The Far Side" comic strip and made the proclamation of how I pretty much think it's the funniest comic ever.
the 15 year run of "The Far Side" ended on 1/1/1995.
about 2 1/2 years before that, another comic debuted that is very similar in style and humor to "The Far Side". Called "Close to Home", it celebrated 20 years in 2012 and still features the same whacked-out humor as always.
I'd say that "Close to Home" is my 2nd fav cartoon of all time.
