What Illinois Needs

Late last week, the Chicago Tribune made their endorsement for the Republican primary for Illinois governor.

Not surprisingly, they chose Bruce Rauner.

The one of the 4 candidates with heavy Chicago ties.

And, because of those Chicago connections, the only one of the 4 who has any chance of beating current belived governor Pat "Quinnybaby" Quinn.

(I should say.... the only one that can beat Quinn if nothing comes of the potential scandal brewing, which could lead to realistic calls for impeachment:  http://capitolfax.com/2014/03/07/you-just-knew-this-was-gonna-happen/)

Anyway, back to the endorsement....

As I stated above, it wasn't surprising that they chose Raucous Rauner.... it was surprising in the way they did it.

Basically, telling Illinoisans that things suck in this state.  Suck bad.  Suck so bad that whomever the next governor may be, things aren't likely to get any better any time soon.

The whole endorsement can be read here:

A couple excerpts.....
Our economy languishes while innovative and bold states around us surge. Our leaders collect more in taxes year after year, yet prefer constant budget strife to paying the bills for all they've spent.

Look at how low this state has sunk. Yet, election after election, citizens sabotage their interests: They squander opportunities to reform their government and keep re-electing the Democratic and Republican oligarchs whose cozy relationships suffuse sclerotic Springfield.

Of the four Republicans, Rauner best communicates to citizens the indelible fact that Illinois is broken. If nominated now, in November he would force voters to choose a future for this state.

I love this state, but we are in a nightmarish situation.

Rauner is not the solution.  Neither is Quinn.  We need to chase them all out of Springfield, especially the most powerful man in the state, Mikey Madigan.

The governor has little influence at all these days;  Georgie Porgy Ryan and Rob Blagojevich ruined the office.

Out for now....
