Booze Guzzlers
New data was just released concerning the drinking of alcohol around the globe.
And it's not good.
In 10 countries, residents consumed more than 13 or more liters per person during a year's time.
Here are the world's top 5 heaviest-drinking countries:
5) Romania
4) Russian Federation
3) Lithuania
2) Republic of Moldova
1) Belarus
Vodka anyone? :)
Some other interesting facts from the study:
- #1 Belarus has a whopping alcohol per capita (APC) consumption of 17.5 liters (per person per year!)
- No country has a higher rate of alcohol use disorders than Hungary; a staggering 19.3% of the population abuse alcohol in some form.
- Austria and Lithuania have a higher percentage of binge drinkers than any other countries -- both over 36.5%.
- Worldwide, people 15 and older consumed 6.2 liters of alcohol per person (average).
There's a whole lot more stats about alcohol-related deaths and shortened life expectancies that I won't share here. Read more about the study at these 2 links:
Sad. So sad.
We are slaves to our vices.
Out for now.....
