Most Powerful Women
Forbes Magazine has released their 2014 list of the World's Most Powerful Women.
I will say that I didn't take the time to do any research to understand the criteria used to put this list together.
Nonetheless, it's fun to glance thru and get some chuckles at what they deem "power".
Example #1:
Michelle Obama is on the list at #8.
Although I will admit that she's much more of a leader than her husband, a #8 ranking is poppycock. The Obama name carries with it zero cred.
Example #2:
Lady Gaga is on the list.
Need I say more?
Anyway, the top 5 are:
Ms. Yellen didn't even make the list last year. Now she's the most powerful woman in America.
More powerful than Lady Gaga.
More powerful than Michelle Obama.
And more powerful than Michelle's hubby.
Other stuff I spotted:
- Lady Gaga is the youngest on the list
- Queen Elizabeth is the oldest on the list
- Hillary Clinton is #6; scary scary scary
- the highest ranking entertainer: Oprah at #14; Beyonce is close behind at #17
- ADM's own Pat Woertz is #85
- and the last woman to make the list? #100 Greta Van Susteren
I found this very interesting too:
More than half (58) of the women on the list are American, including immigrants such as von Furstenberg (Belgium), Power (Ireland), Weili Dai (China) and Warrior (India). Asia-Pacific citizens make the second strongest showing at 23. Latin America and the Middle East have five regionals on the list, and there are four Europeans and Africans with a slot. Nabiullina is the first Russian to make the list.
58% of the Most Powerful Women in the world are Americans? Nahhh.
Eliminate the "fluff" from the television and music industry (e.g. Oprah, Ellen, Angelina) and we'd be under 50.

Out for now.....
