Illinois on the 500
http://fortune.com/fortune500/
For many in business, this is a big day. Some consider a company's ranking on this list to be a big, BIG deal.
So how did Illinois companies do?
-- Thirty-three Illinois companies made the 2014 Fortune 500 list, up from 32 in 2013.
-- Having 33 companies on the 500 puts Illinois in 4th place... behind New York, California, and Texas (these 4 states make up nearly 40% of the 500)
-- Illinois' top 3: ADM (No. 27), Boeing (No. 30), Walgreen (No. 37)
-- 4 of the Illinois 33 had never made the list before: U S Foods, AbbVie, Integrys Energy Group, LKQ Corporation (like me, many of you are saying "who?")
-- 3 Illinois companies fell off the list this year: Office Max (since they were purchased by Office Depot), Hillshire Brands, Telephone & Data Systems
What about other big Illinois companies?
-- Caterpillar #49
-- John Deere #80
-- Sears #87
-- McDonalds #106
And a couple other pieces of info to close out this post:
-- Yahoo fell off the list this year.

2. Exxon Mobil
3. Chevron
4. Berkshire Hathaway

Out for now.....
