Picture 6/9: Cool Hotel Lock

June 9
(picture 160 of 365)

The lovely Mrs. Honnold and I stayed last night in a hotel as we were out of town on some personal business.

When we arrived at our hotel room, I was baffled as to where to swipe the key card to get the door to unlock.

There was no slot.

There was no door to open to reveal a slot.

Then, by stroke of luck, I happened to get the key card close enough to the lock that the light went green and the door unlocked.

The card apparently had some type of electronic circuitry in it.  Very cool!

(note: maybe this door technology has been around for some time;  this was just the first time for us to stay at a place with it installed.)

And to think that I was just a few minutes away from going to the front desk to ask them how to get in our room.  Yeesh!

Out for now.....
