End of Summer Bash
The first 2 weeks of school are now complete.
Well..... kinda 2 weeks because they started on a Tuesday, had several early dismissals for heat, and have tomorrow off to make a 4-day Labor Day weekend.
Anyway.....
Since we did not do a family vacation this summer, we did try to have somewhat of a "back to school bash" with our ladies over the first part of August.
And I'd say we were pretty darn successful....
- saw Guardians of the Galaxy movie (at the charming Avon Theater in downtown Decatur)
- went to the Jamie Grace concert at Decatur Celebration (and got wet) -- SEE PREVIOUS MATTCHAT POST ABOUT T-SHIRTS
- invited the cousins down for a 2-night sleepover
- attended the Blue Mound parade (where they throw out soybean-shaped stress balls -- AWESOME)
- saw a fantastic outdoor performance of "Shrek the Musical" at The Muni in Springfield
- saw the TMNT movie (also at The Avon Theater)
- took our oldest and her friend for their first visit to the Illinois State Fair, which included the Hunter Hayes concert
- had a fun afternoon of roller skating
- trip to Wal-Mart for a fill-the-cart-with-school-supplies (expensive) "party"
Making memories with family is time such well-spent. Getting the kids exposed to new happenings and opportunities is a wonderful part of the parenting experience.
How are you doing with that?
Out for now.....
Matt
