Picture 8/3: Grace Shirts

August 3

My girls were recipients of a really, really cool act of generosity tonight.

We arrived at Decatur Celebration around 5:20 to get our spots for the Jamie Grace concert.

Not long thereafter, it started raining.

Some freak little pain-in-the-wazoo storm cell that was hovering right over Macon County.

The sprinkles turned to a harder shower, then let up.

However, not long after that, it started pouring.

Big drops.
Cold, big drops.

The girls (not expecting rain to be an issue) were in shorts and tank tops.

All 3 of us were drenched... drenched and chilled to the point of goosebumps and on the verge of heading home.... not knowing if Jamie would ever take the stage.

Then, a gentleman by the name of Gary offered the girls his umbrella.  He said he'd go stand next to one of the buildings along the sidewalk.

After about 5 minutes, Gary returned.

With these.....

Concert t-shirts.
One for each of my daughters.

His comment was something to the effect of "t-shirts.... dry and warm".

They were shocked.
I was flabbergasted.

Gary displayed an amazing example of what it means to be the tangible touch of Jesus Christ.

He saw a need.
He met that need.
And made this daddy cry.

We didn't do anything to deserve those shirts.  But Gary acted out of love and compassion.

I don't know if Gary will ever come across this blog post.  Despite the big hug I gave him, he'll never fully realize how much I appreciated him taking care of us.

But, he made a such an impact.

Thanks Gary!

Out for now.....

Matt
