Ragamuffin

"He was the best writer in Christian music, and remains so to this day. He is untouchable lyrically. He possessed that particular combination of gift and fearlessness that equals genius. Lots of people have one or the other. It's the combination that's rare."  (Reed Arvin, speaking about Rich Mullins)

For many who might be reading this, the name Rich Mullins won't mean anything.  Or the term Ragamuffin.

(If that's the case for you, find out some more about Rich by checking Wikipedia and by reading this Mattchat post:

For those to which the name Rich Mullins does mean something, did you hear there's a movie out about Rich's life?

Yup.
It's called "Ragamuffin".
Take a read thru this great post from Breakpoint about the movie:

My family got me the "Ragamuffin" DVD for Fathers Day.  I haven't had time to watch it, but I sure am excited to.

Rich was such a down-to-Earth guy, a talented writer, and an amazing professional performer.

One of my favorite quotes of Rich's, which also appears in the Breakpoint link above:
“Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little wife and your perfect little children in your beautiful little house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken.”

Man, his insights and teaching are missed in today's world.

Out for now.....
