Look at this picture I took today of a cornfield here in beautiful Macon County IL:
Look at that --
The ear has outgrown the husk!!
Meaning..... there's a lot of corn kernels on that ear!!
I've seen this all over Macon County.
(downside: those unprotected kernels on the top of the ear are exposed to the elements, meaning some rot/mold/fungus will take place, as you see above)
Big, healthy ears =
Big harvest !!
Lots of corn (and beans) folks!!
