Some of my favorite news items are found on the website of NPR. They really have some fascinating stuff.
Like this one:
The Most Common Jobs For The Rich, Middle Class And Poor
They break down annual salaries into ranges starting at $207,000 and up (the "infamous 1%") and run all the way down to $12,000 and below (the bottom 10%).
Within each of the 11 salary bands, they identify the 10 most common occupations.
Which, from top band to bottom band, the most common occupation is:
Physicians
"Managers" (very generic, eh?)
"Managers" (again)
"Managers" (yup, more of them)
Primary School Teachers
Primary School Teachers (again)
Secretaries
Secretaries (again)
Nursing Aides
Nursing Aides (again)
Nursing Aides (again)
"Police" only hits the list one time..... #9 in the third band from the top.
And "Farmer" is not on the list at all.
Incredible.
