Running Towards Ebola

This whole Ebola thing is quite troubling.

The parts of Africa that have been impacted are such a mess.

Inadequate medical facilities and personnel.  Miscommunication.  Distrust in the government.  Thousands upon thousands dead.

Now there are one-off Ebola cases popping up in various spots around the globe.  Including here in the U.S.

And I have little confidence that the CDC has any capability to handle a major outbreak, should it grow to that point.

There is all sorts of info and opinion pieces being published about this plague.
How it started?  How to stop it?  What to do to combat it?

It's already a humanitarian crisis.
Without a proper and effective response, it could easily turn into a humanitarian nightmare.

This generation's yellow fever.
This generation's bubonic plague, measles, or smallpox.

Eric Metaxas with Breakpoint posted a great piece this week containing insights for those who follow Christ concerning the Ebola outbreak:

Perhaps the most thought-provoking line.....
"Nearly eighteen centuries after the Plague of Cyprian, Christianity still prompts people to run towards the plague when virtually everyone else is running away."

Wow, definitely words to ponder.  Where and how will the church step-in to provide comfort to the sick?  Especially with something as dangerous/deadly as Ebola.

It's already happening in Africa.  Christian missionaries and relief organizations are stepping up.

What will be the response here in the U.S.A.?  How will the dominoes fall?

A thought to ponder.

Out for now.....
