Picture 1/4: Turtle Necklace
January 4
(picture 4 of 365)
Yesterday in Champaign, we dropped by one of their 2 Salvation Army thrift shops.
My youngest was hanging with me as I was at the jewelry counter looking at potential keychain acquisitions.
A necklace caught her eye.
This necklace:
As she was talking to me about it, our conversation was overheard by a very kind gentleman, probably in his early 70's -- not that that's a relevant fact for the story.
He joined the conversation and asked if my daughter had spotted anything that she liked.
Long story short, my daughter explained to him how her sister loves turtles and that this would be a great necklace for her sister.
He proceeded to say something to the effect of "well let me just buy it for you then to give to your sister".
And you know what?
That's just what he did.
The kindness of others never ceases to amaze me.
This is at least the 3rd or 4th example of this type of little blessing that our family has experienced in the last few months.
And in those last few months, I have made an effort to be on the giving end of some small unexpected blessings to some others.
Someone who doesn't know me.
Someone to whom I owed nothing.
Someone who I felt needed a bright spot in their day.
It's an absolutely awesome feeling folks!
"WE ARE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING"
May I never forget that.
May you never forget that.
Out for now.....
