Brrrrrrr America
Man, it's been a cold winter for the U.S.
Here in central IL, we've not had any long stretches of super-cold weather this winter, but believe you me, it has been quite bone-chillin' on some early mornings.
It is very safe to say that I am so so ready for the warmth of Spring.
Anyway, I came across this article that was very interesting.
AMERICA'S 50 COLDEST CITIES
The top-ten contains 2 from South Dakota, 4 from North Dakota, 2 from Minnesota, 1 from Michigan, and 1 from Alaska. (see below)
None from Wisconsin though (in the top 10). Interesting. I've always viewed Wisconsin as a frozen tundra.
Chicago is #48, with an average monthly minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees.
2 other Illinois cities made the list:
Moline (#37)
Rockford (#33)
Surprisingly, Anchorage Alaska was all the way down at #22.
However, the only other Alaska city on the list was the #1.
Here's the top ten:
10- Huron SD
9- Marquette MI
8- Bismarck ND
7- St. Cloud MN
6- Aberdeen SD
5- Duluth MN
4- Williston ND
3- Fargo ND
2- Grand Forks ND
1- Fairbanks AK
Fairbanks has an average monthly minimum temperature of -16.9 degrees.
That's more than 33 degrees colder (on average) than Chicago.
Yikes! I guess I will stop saying how cold of a winter it's been here in the CI.
See the full list of 50 with stats for each:
Out for now.....
