Measle Myths

Measles measles everywhere.

Well, maybe not quite everywhere.

in Arizona.
In Illinois.
and in Mickey Mouse land.

At least some of these infections are the direct result of a few parents deciding not to vaccinate their kids.

I'm not going to comment here about what I think about parents who don't vaccinate, other than to say it sure appears to be quite a selfish act.

Why would you want to put your kid at risk?

Why would you want to put your kid's friends at risk?

Hmmmmmm.

Anyway, I came across this article that talks about the 7 big misconceptions / myths about vaccinations in general:

* It's OK to delay vaccines and it lets your kid's immune system mature.

* Foreigners, especially illegal immigrants, are bringing measles to the US.

* More people die from the vaccine than from measles.

* Existence of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program proves vaccines are harmful.

* People who have been vaccinated can spread measles.

* Vaccination is a political debate.

* Vaccines cause autism.

Read all about how doctors refute and/or debunk these 7 myths:

And treatment for measles is not cheap at all.  like $10k:

Yeesh parents, a $50 vaccination is way cheaper than that.

Out for now.......
