Drive Around the World

Hey, you hear about this?

There is talk of putting in a road that would go from Europe east to the U.S.

Yup, this is Russia's bright idea......

"Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin has proposed a plan for a massive trans-Siberian highway that would link his country's eastern border with the U.S. state of Alaska, crossing a narrow stretch of the Bering Sea that separates Asia and North America."

London to Moscow to Nome to Fairbanks to New York.

"Dubbed the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development (TEPR), the project calls for a major roadway to be constructed alongside the existing Trans-Siberian Railway, along with a new train network and oil and gas pipelines."

It would cost TRILLIONS.

I would add this idea to the fanciful projects "wish list".

In the age of air travel, I cannot imagine a scenario where this thing would have any type of economic payback.

Plus, crossing thru desolate/mountainous stretches of Asia and Alaska..... how could they ever keep the TEPR plowed?

Out for now......
