DST - Why Bother
So, why DST?
Why bother?
That's what Matt Phillips of Quartz (qz.com) proposes.
He states:
The idea behind daylight saving time is to cut back on residential electricity use, which is heaviest at night. By moving the clocks forward in the spring, human activity would start and end earlier, and when people returned to their still-sunny houses after work, they wouldn’t need to turn on the lights until an hour later than normal. The result? Energy savings. But there’s little empirical proof it actually works.
And John Dvorak (writing in PC Magazine) isn't a fan either:
There is no real evidence that it helps anything at all. It's very disruptive in the Northern states during the summer as the sun keeps those areas lit up until 10 p.m. By the time you feel like eating dinner, it is time to go to bed.

I tend to agree with all 3 of these folks.
Missouri is even considering a statewide stoppage of DST-compliance (http://www.sedaliademocrat.com/news/opinion_columns/152274223/Daylight-saving-time-a-simple-idea), just like Arizona and Hawaii have.
Here's my take.....
Time zones are already confusing enough.
Why mess with this mess twice a year?
Trying to explain its meaning/importance in today's world just can't be done.
Out for now.....
