Bad Hotels

We have stayed at many, many hotels in the years we've been married.

I somewhat revel in the process of hotel selection -- looking for CHEAP, while also meeting the absolute requirements of CLEAN and SAFE.

My success percentage is well over 90%.

Maybe even 95%.

But, there have been some real doozies:

San Antonio TX Rodeway Inn:  we found a bag of very questionable loose pills behind the dresser

St. Louis Days Inn (Airport):  they assigned us to a room that was already occupied;  we tried to open the door and the room lights came on

Super 8 Dubuque IA:  dirty, broken, unloved;  'nuff said

Travelodge in Hannibal MO (now an "America's Best Value" hotel):  carpet nasty

Howard Johnson Burlington IA:  poop in pool;  human?  animal?  GROSS

Best Western Flagstaff AZ:  clean and safe..... but itty-bitty room with trains going by all night

Pere Marquette Lodge near Grafton IL:  really thin walls -- really thin;  no questions at all what was taking place in the room next to us;  RAWWWWWR

I do not ever remember having to turn down a room because of bedbugs.

Honestly.... I don't know what's more gross -- bedbugs or pool poop.

At least pool poop can't travel home with us.

Out for now.......

Matt
