Picture 7/4: Steel Wheels

July 4

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

We were up at the in-laws today to celebrate the 4th of July.

(lunch and supper in Delavan, then fireworks in Hopedale)

While out and about in Delavan, I spotted this:

A slew of railcar wheels loaded on a flatbed.

In front of the old Taloma Farmers Grain elevator.

Who knows why the wheels were sitting in Delavan?

Who knows where they are headed?

Who knows what they will eventually be used to haul?

Wouldn't it be very interesting if the wheels ended up as part of a hopper car that one day..... years down the road..... ended up back in Delavan to pick-up some Central Illinois corn or beans?

Stuff like that would be fun to know.

Out for now......
