Chicago NYE

Ahhhhh, sounds like someone's going to try and take on New York City to compete for attention on New Year's Eve.

Who?

Chicago.

"The free six-hour event is called Chi-Town Rising and will be held along the Chicago River between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive."

Chi-Town Rising?

Where did that name come from?

This may help explain it......

"Unlike the ball drop in New York City, Chicago's countdown to midnight will feature a giant six-pointed Chicago star rising 36 stories up the West Tower of the Hyatt Regency Chicago building as fireworks explode all around."

So instead of a ball drop, Chicago is going to have a rising star.

Good heavens.
Why a rising star?

Lots of symbolism.......

"The ascending star symbolizes our collective history of meeting challenges head-on and seeing opportunities in every new adventure. It represents our aspirations rising to embrace the New Year. We look forward to this event becoming a new tradition in Chicago."
(John Murray, executive producer of the event)

My question?

Who's going to be the Ryan Seacrest of this Chicago event?

Oprah?
Bill Murray?
A Harry Carey impersonator?

Out for now.......
