Chi-town Union Station

Great to see this news about Chicago's beautiful Union Station.

After years of studies and collective hand-wringing, a coalition of local government units and Amtrak today is announcing the first real steps to finally rebuild the crowded and outmoded Union Station.  On tap immediately are a new passenger lounge and repairs to the stately but leaky 219-foot-long skylight that covers the building's Great Hall.

Union Station (home to that staircase from the epic scene in "The Untouchables") is a historic treasure that has been neglected for too long.

Spending taxpayer dollars on something like this rather than on new stuff (i.e. Lucas Museum, Obama Museum, interstate to no where across northern IL/IN) makes so much more sense.

Let's focus on maintaining what we've got, rather than building new stuff that we have no money to maintain.

Out for now.......
