As mentioned on an earlier post, the majestic (IMHO) St. Louis Arch turned 50 years old this week.
You may not have realized that the iconic and beautiful memorial had several other designs competing to be chosen for the spot on the STL riverfront.
And man were they ugly.
And most of them made zero sense.

Boy am I glad those in charge chose the Arch design. The others...... YIKES.
