Capital City Maid-Rite
Just found out about a cool piece of history that I want to visit next time we are over in Springfield:
"Opened in 1924,the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop at 118 N. Pasfield St. is thought to be the oldest sandwich shop in continuous operation in Springfield.
It also claims to have the first drive-up window in the U.S. (The window originally was walk-up; customers would eat their sandwiches while standing.)"
All this time, and I never knew it was over there.
Boy oh boy, where would American fast-food be without the drive-up window? :)
