Picture 2/3: Holey Coin
February 3
(picture 34 of 365)
I came across this as I was unpacking/organizing my office:
Yes, that is a real 1972 Eisenhower dollar with a hole in it.
This thing is a memory from my days as a teller at the Kansas State Bank.
Every once in awhile, someone would bring something in for deposit that couldn't be deposited.
Foreign coins.
Less than half a bill.
Ed McMahon "checks".
Monopoly money.
And "defaced" coins, such as this one.
Not sure why someone drilled a hole thru it, but they didn't want it once we told them it was worth zilch.
So I "inherited" it and carried it around as a keychain for years and years.
On multiple occasions throughout college, it sparked an inquiry from someone who spotted it.
Quite the conversation piece. Right, Ike?
Out for now.......
