Draining Lake Ellyn

I found this interesting.

Half a million taxpayer bucks to drain a man-made lake (pond??)........ that Mother Nature will fill right back up.

Why Glen Ellyn might drain Lake Ellyn

Lake Ellyn to be drained for project to prevent overflowing

It's a "stormwater management project" to do repairs/upgrades to the drain of Lake Ellyn.

"Water now is released from the lake at a maximum rate of about 50 cubic feet per second. Construction of a new, larger outlet control structure will increase the peak rate to about 90 to 95 cubic feet per second, or roughly 62 million gallons a day."

But a price tag of $555k?  Seems incredibly steep for such a small pond.

The Board only got 1 bid.  Not a wise move.

And nothing is mentioned about fish.  I presume Pond Ellyn is stocked?

Maybe a chunk of the funds is for fish relocation and/or babysitting?

Out for now........
