State Fair Backlog

Quite some time back, I wrote here on MattChat about the need to fix-up the Illinois State Fairgrounds:

Well, I spotted an update this week:
A backlog of repairs and maintenance totaling an estimated $180 million will make it increasingly difficult for the state fairgrounds in Springfield and Du Quoin to compete for major events if allowed to continue, according to a capital spending plan outlined last month by Gov. Bruce Rauner.

What needs repaired?
A whole bunch.........

* Roof repairs or replacement for 15 buildings.

* Roadwork through the fairgrounds.

* Life-safety improvements.

* Electrical system upgrade.

* Parapet and electric upgrades at Junior Livestock facility.

* Grandstand repairs at Multi-Purpose Arena.

* Underground storage tank removal.

* Demolish Building 29.

* Mile-track improvements.

* Replace sewer and water infrastructure.

* Horse-barn sprinkler systems.

* Tuckpointing and brick repair at the main Grandstand.

* Theater repairs at the Illinois Building.

Read more of the sad tale:

Our family has so many memories made at the fairgrounds.  It sucks to see it falling apart as there are so many more memories to make.

Out for now.......
