Picture 4/1: Elevator Man
April 1
(picture 92 of 365)
We were at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis this evening.
At 5pm each day, they march their ducks from the lobby fountain down a red carpet and into an elevator -- up to their rooftop suite. Then at 11am the next day, the ducks are marched back in to spend 6 hours swimming.
This is something that has been going on for like 80 years.
I remember Dad and Mom taking us to this "event" on a family vacation many years ago.
Wanted the girls to experience it also.
While waiting for the start, I was doing a lot of observation of this nice gentleman:
It appears his job is to greet folks, push the up/down buttons, and get them safely in/out of the elevators.
He did his job well and kindly.
Although...... I'm pretty sure all the tourists and kids crowding his area to watch the ducks isn't the highlight of his day.
Out for now.......
