One of the local "institutions" has been saved from closure by a very unlikely, yet connected, group of individuals.
Jarling's.
Best place to get custard...... deliciously cool and refreshing custard...... in the C-U area.
"After a school fires you, which Illinois did to (Illini Football Coach Ron) Turner in 2004, you aren’t supposed to come back and help the place.
(But) Turner is part of an Illini-centric group that is buying Jarling’s Custard Cup. Former men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber and ex-Illini standout football players Kurt Kittner and Tony Pashos are pitching in, too."
It's a cool story:
A cool story that will keep the cool treats served-up for years to come.
