Exotic Fair Pet

Awwwww...... isn't he cute?

Yours for only $500+ (including cage) at the Illinois State Fair.

It's a "sugar glider", and this Springfield Illinois vet has some concerns:

Dr. Greg Hurst, owner of the White Oaks West Animal Hospital, said that after last year’s state fair -- during which the animals also were sold -- some people brought their sugar gliders to his office because they were having problems.
“Every one of these owners really didn’t plan on having a sugar glider prior to the state fair. It’s essentially an impulse buy,” Hurst said. “Animals should never be an impulse item. It’s something you should plan for, be prepared for, and research before buying.”

Can't say I disagree with him at all.

The wise vet continues........

The vet added that when it comes to pets, impulse buys are a bad idea across-the-board. He would also discourage impulse buys when it comes to dogs, cats or any other animal.
“It’s kind of like at Easter time when there is somebody selling baby rabbits or little ducklings. People buy them, and then a week later, they are asking, ‘What am I going to do with this?’ The pet usually suffers for it. I don’t recommend that,” Hurst said.

Yup!

Here's the full article:

We know where the Sugar Glider booth was last year.  Maybe we'll drop by for a visit again this year.

Not buying one though.  Ours is a rodent-free house.

Out for now.......

Matt
