Peoria Plight

“What do we do with the Peorias?  I don’t think we know what the answer to that is.”
(Joe Cortright)

I recently made a MattChat post containing some reactions/responses to the news that Caterpillar is abandoning Peoria as their HQ.

As follow-up, catch this:
Plight of company towns: finding a new identity

Not only is Peoria mentioned, but so is Decatur's rather recent loss of the global HQ of ADM.

"Now many of those midsize communities are looking for a new identity as more companies trade their longtime hometowns for major cities with easier access to global markets and the lifestyle talented young workers want, with public transit, nightlife and trendy restaurants."

It's definitely a trend.

Big city vs. not-so-big city.

Moves that have value/merit.  But also moves that harm America's Heartland.

Out for now.......
