What in the world is this all about?
You'll have to read this hilarious satire from John Kass of the Chicago Tribune:
"The best thing to do is to break Illinois into pieces right now. Just wipe us off the map. Cut us out of America's heartland and let neighboring states carve us up and take the best chunks for themselves."
Looks like Macon County (and my home county, Edgar) both go this direction:
"Indiana may want a large curvy slice of the former Illinois, so the state will be shaped more like a basketball. This will please Hoosiers to no end."
While John's words are meant to generate laughs, the state of our state is absolutely no laughing matter.
We are beyond the point of easy solutions. The only option now is critical change.
