Picture 8/29: Orange Residue

After giving the yard a cut, the mower looked like this:

Covered by a strange orange powder / residue.

Every once in awhile during the mow, I'd hit a spot where a light cloud of orange dust would "poof" up into the air.

Kinda weird.

I'm being told that it's yard rust.

And it's common this year.

Hmmmm...... I had no idea that grass could rust.
