Picture 8/31: Climbing the Mailbox
August 31
(year 4, picture 243)
My opinion of morning glories is a pretty diverse one.
Good:
#1-Their blossoms are beautiful.
Good & Bad:
#2-They grow so easily.
#3-They spread so rapidly.
#4-They climb and cover pretty much anything in their path.
Bad:
#5-Because of #2, dealing with volunteer growth/spread is a real issue.
#6-Because of #2, #3 and #4, they are more of a nuisance/weed than a garden-friendly flower.
All that said, I think what is happening to our mailbox is absolutely awesome:
They have almost ascended to the top.
And -- I expect -- will soon cover not just the post but the box as well.
Because of #1, I am cool with that!
Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
Matt

FUN FACT: Morning glory was first known in China for its medicinal uses, due to the laxative properties of its seeds.
