Porch Pirates

PORCH PIRATES:
Folks who steal packages from the stoops of others

Yeah, it's a problem.

Shouldn't be.  But in our fallen world, there's a ton of things that "shouldn't be".

A December 2015 report from Insurance Quotes estimated that 23 million Americans have had packages stolen from their doorsteps. Porch piracy has become such a problem that Amazon has launched a service that let's customers have their packages delivered to an Amazon Locker rather than to their home or business.

Well....... bright minds are working to attack these pirates.

AT&T has developed a new wireless theft-prevention technology for packages. According to a U.S. patent application first made public today, the device will be placed in packages when they are shipped. The device is programmed with information obtained from the package's purchaser and when it's delivered to its final destination, the delivery driver activates it. Only the purchaser or their friends and family members will be able to deactivate it, such as by using the recipient's smartphone.

Interesting, huh?
