Carp Conversation
For years now, Asian Carp have been working their way north........ up the Illinois River....... headed for the Great Lakes.
The scientific/environmental crowd says the Carp will eventually be a disaster for the ecological balance in the Lakes.
Then this comes out this week:
A handful of U.S. Senators from other Great Lakes states are furious that the Army Corps of Engineers is not rushing to keep Asian carp out of the lakes.
But the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Kevin Irons says there's really no need to rush.
"The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are spending a lot of time and focus to make sure the threat of Asian carp is not increasing," Irons said. "To that end, since 2014, we've seen a reduction in the number of Asian carp in the upper [Illinois River] waterway."

Personally, I feel this is a losing battle.
The fishies WILL reach the Great Lakes.
To what extent will they do damage?
Who knows??
