Jackpotting.
Ever heard that word?
It was a new one for me, but it's actually been around for several years.
jackpotting:
the fraudulent exploitation of an automatic teller machine (ATM) so that it dispenses cash that has not been withdrawn from an account
Yeah, that's not good.
And now the problem has reached the USA:
'Jackpotting' Targets U.S. ATMs to Make Them Spit Out Cash
"spit out cash"
Can you just imagine walking past an ATM and it starts spitting cash at you?
That's not exactly what's happening here, but the thought of that type of hack/event happening at all ATMs across America causing hysteria/riots is a downright chilly one.
Wonder how much cash the average ATM holds, anyway? Couple grand?
