Lots of Meat
Man, this is a lot of meat!
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average U.S. consumer will eat 222.2 pounds of red meat and poultry in 2018, a record high.
Americans are turning more often to protein sources such as beef and chicken, and per-capita consumption has jumped. The government suggests eating 5 to 6.5 ounces of protein each day, but the wire service said that USDA predicts the average consumer will eat nearly 10 ounces of meat and poultry alone every day this year.
Here's all the details:
So if the average is 222.2 pounds, there are a lot of vegetarians out there -- plus those for dietary and religious reasons -- who eat none. That would mean some are eating 400, 500, 600+ pounds.
I'll say it again...... man, this is a lot of meat!
Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
Matt
