Passed by I-57 Exit 83 on the way home today:
Growing-up, our family took the Ina exit many, many times.
Lots of great times about 8 miles to the east of here.
Grandpa and Grandma's house.
just a few memories:
- Grandma's mashed potatoes, lettuce salad, and date pudding
- fried chicken from Bonnie KFC
- family sitting in a circle of lawn chairs out in the yard
- walking around Grandpa's pond
- playing wiffle ball and other games with the cousins
- Skippy the dog
- tree swing
- quarter-mile walk to go see Uncle Kevin's train layout
- unwrappings of many Christmas gifts
- standing on the warm register in the kitchen looking at the flame below
- ice cream treats from the freezer in the little shed to the east of the house
- towel on Grandpa's chair in the corner of the living room
- CB equipment in the back room of the house
- cool stuff in Grandpa's garage
- collection of glasses with cartoon characters on them
- watching "Mannequin" movie and Little Rascals shorts with the cousins
Still such vivid memories all these years later........
