Decatur Groceries

Prior to a couple announcements made earlier in August, this is the run-down of grocery stores in Decatur.

4 Kroger *

1 County Market (formerly Cub Foods) *

2 Aldi  (1 of those brand-new)

2 Sav-a-Lot

2 Wal-Mart

1 Target  (limited grocery section)

Schnuck's closed years ago.

And we have no Meijer, Super Target, Hy-vee, Shop-n-Save, or Ruler.

Note there are a pair of "*" indicators above.

Why?

Recently announced......... County Market is closing. And 1 of 4 Krogers (Fairview Plaza / Millikin) is closing.

Yikes.

Some people despise going into Wallyworld.

And since some folks refuse to step foot into a Sav-a-Lot or an Aldi, the closure of 2 big grocery stores is going to put a strain on the remaining ones.

Especially Kroger.  And one of their facilities (South Shores) is ridiculously tiny with limited parking.

It's not a good situation.
