Big Raise for SW Mechanics

Looks like a strike has been averted for the mechanics at Southwest Airlines.

And those mechanics appear to really be coming out with a sweet deal on this thing:

The two sides announced the tentative contract agreement late Saturday after six years of negotiations between Southwest and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association.

The deal still needs to be voted on by the roughly 2,400 mechanics who will receive a 20 percent raise if the contract is approved. The five-year contract also calls for $160 million in bonuses for the mechanics.

20% raise -- WOW!  I'm sure a chunk of that is retro for the 6 years negotiations have been taking place.

And $160 MILLION in bonuses!  Amongst 2,400 mechanics!  That's $66k+ each!  WOW!

Those mechanics have a very important role..... and they know it.  And Southwest knows it.
