U.S. Needs China Drugs

Not sure how many are aware of this:

The coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China, is causing businesses, health officials and patients to worry about potential shortages of prescription drugs.

That's because the vast majority of active ingredients in medicines dispensed in the U.S. are made in factories overseas, many in China.

Concerning, eh?  Not just concerning...... very concerning.

Truth be told, we are relying on China very heavily for a significant number of drugs being taken by Americans.

The article continues:

The Food and Drug Administration says it is in contact with more than 180 drug manufacturing facilities, and as of Feb. 26 it had identified 20 products or ingredients that are exclusively manufactured in China and could go into shortage.

"Exclusively manufactured in China".  How does that happen?  We should never have let ourselves get into that position.

In effect, we're basically at China's mercy.

No telling what drugs these are or how much of an impact not having them could be on our society.  Could people die?  Could 1000's of people die?

This is something drug manufacturers and our government need to take very seriously.  But they are distracted -- by bitter partisanship and selfish egos.

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
