IL COVID Spending

Of interest to those of you in the Land of Lincoln.......

The Illinois Comptroller is now posting information about the daily spending taking place by the State in efforts to fight the corona outbreak.

In the last week, the total has jumped from $107 MILLION to $166 MILLION.

You can even filter on that page by vendor to show who is getting paid how much.  It's quite interesting.  One example:  on April 7 and 8, sharpies and foam coolers were purchased from Menards.

How high will this grow?  And every single dollar is funny money -- racking up debt now (both at the state and federal levels) that will come due at some point in the future.

Our elected officials have not deemed "rainy day funds" essential for decades.  And now, we're pulling out the charge cards for all the costs involved with corona.

It's gonna suck for our kids and grandkids.

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -

Matt
