New Words #9

Came across some more "new" words.

As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new" words..... just new ones to me:  words that I've come across recently which I had never heard before.


cup snake:
a long, flexible construction of stacked, empty plastic beer cups, made by the crowd at sporting events

burking:

the crime of murdering a person, ordinarily by smothering, for the purpose of selling the corpse


smishing:

a form of phishing in which an attacker uses a compelling text message to trick targeted recipients into clicking a link and sending the attacker private information or downloading malicious programs to a smartphone


Delmarva:

a large peninsula on the East Coast of the United States, occupied by the vast majority of the state of Delaware (DEL) and parts of the Eastern Shore regions of Maryland (MAR) and Virginia (VA)


hair discrimination:

unjust or prejudicial treatment based on an individual's natural hairstyle in the workplace, housing, and schools


ship-breaking:

a type of ship disposal involving the breaking up of ships for either a source of parts, which can be sold for re-use, or for the extraction of raw materials and scrap


jardigan:

a professional blazer made out of soft cardigan material (JAcket & caRDIGAN)
