Imagine if you will a large bulletin board that has been divided right down the middle by a piece of masking tape.
One side is labelled "America: Things that Unite Us".
The other side: "America: Things that Divide Us".
There are dozens and dozens of notecards stuck on each side. But as you look closer, you notice the the majority of the cards posted in recent months are on the "Divide Us" side.
How discouraging.
Yet, true.
Even the most optimistic and enthusiastic (and honest) individual can see the growing fissures and fractures across the American landscape.
We are in a very unsettled and troubling time as a nation.
And it really sucks. Sucks so freakin' badly.
